Jaume Barcelo's research interests are in the field of contention MAC protocols for wireless networks. He proposed the use of a deterministic backoff after successful transmissions to reduce the number of collisions. Jaume is currently with the NeTS research group, DTIC department, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He obtained an A4U grant to spend his postdoctoral years with Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He holds a Ph.D. from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, a M. Eng. from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya and a B. Eng. from Universitat de les Illes Balears. He also spent some time as a research assistant at Technishe Universitaet Kaiserslautern, and participated in internship programs with HP, Air Europa Airlines and ID Tech Camps.
